Skiing
Snow in the know:
Here’s my take:
Stowe: Expert terrain. Just take your pick of groomers, tree runs and steeps. The Stone Hut is a gorgeous historic 1930s mountain lodge. Book in advance if you are able. Liftline, Starr, National, and Goat are all double black diamonds starting from the top of the Fourrunner Quad chairlift. Be alert! They are gnarly narrow and bumpy. Best powder when skiing the east!
Sugarbush: Slide Brook Basinis sweet, pure, unadulterated skiing. Seek and you shall find un-groomed terrain. Genuine rustic feel in town with a splash of luxuriousness.
Killington: Beast of the East. The largest ski area in the eastern U.S. The largest vertical drop in New England at 3,050 feet. Encompasses six distinct peaks interlaced with extensive trails, steep chutes and rolling mountainsides. Optimal snow conditions for any skier skill level. October through May: It claims the longest ski season in the East.
Jay Peak: Deep powder glades. Intermediates to experts. Regarded as Vermont’s snowiest ski resort. Less crowds than Killington.
