Bar do Veloso at Ipiranga
Highly recommend it for the premiers ' caipirinhas' , known as one of the best in the city. This kind of bar is VERY popular in the city and it's called "boteco". Very casual kind-of-bar everyone-likes-to-hang-in there. Picks up on Thursdays till Mondays.
Besides the 'caipirinha' , don't miss out in ordering a freezing "chopp" (sorry but you'll never like a regular beer after that) and some "boteco petiscos" such as 'bolinho de bacalhau', 'pastel', "escondidinho de carne' and other " boteco foods". You can go for lunch and stay till dinner (you won't be alone).
Hang in there and mingle with some locals!! Remember in this country no ones brings a check unless you ask for it. And get ready to answer if you want a ' saideira' - meaning the last chopp before the bill finally arrives. It's all about having a good time!!!!
